[Background] Ponyville scenery by TriteBristle [Background] Ponyville scenery by TriteBristle
A familiar archway (which is really just an overpass through two houses) that can be seen in quite a lot of episodes. I vectored it long weeks ago, and ended up using a different background for the comic. I'll use it sooner or later though.

Also, new page soon.

As always, MLP:FiM is owned by Hasbro and created by :iconfyre-flye:, please don't sue me.

I borrowed a portion of this piece for my human Derpy piece. I recreated it myself though from scratch. I just really liked this background. Nice work.

Did you trace it or free hand it?

Traced it. I'm no artist, I have no talent for free-handing. It still took a day or two to make.

Ah, and the ponies are done in Ink/Ponyscape?

Everything is done in Inkscape. ;)
(And then put together in GIMP, with captions.)

I know that archway all too well... One of the few locations in Ponyville that's managed to stay consistent. Located just NW of Sugarcube Corner, and a little bit south of the Library. Nicely done by the way!

Arches like these are quite common in European architecture. In crowded cities in the Middle Ages, they were actually sometimes used as crossings between houses. In Germany, people who were in the habit of crossing into each others' houses over the arches were known as "Schwippschwager" (from the German Schwebebogen, the name for the arches). The term still exists today.
